Graduate Researcher | PhD Student

Arthi is a first-generation Thamil Canadian from a migrant family and a second-year Cultural Studies graduate student.  Pronouns are She/Her/They. She is currently remote working from Montreal, (Quebec) while attending Queen’s University (Kingston).  

Artist, educator, farmer, activist and life-long student —Arthi’s research interests are reflected through these lenses. Focusing on intergroup relations between migrants and Indigenous people in Canada, she is exploring the articulations between citizenship, human geographies and decolonialism. She engages in her research by implementing critical creative praxis by using art, gardening and storytelling as methods. 

She is also a research assistant working with the Office of Indigenous Initiatives at Queen’s University.
