Research Associate | Operations Manager

A white settler of British ancestry, Ally is a geographer (BSc. UVic) and teacher (B.Ed. UBC). She has devoted her career to promoting ecological literacy through experiential learning and community-based enterprises. Ally spent three decades in traditional territory of the Ktunaxa, the Syilx, and the Sinixt peoples, working as a social entrepreneur initiating and animating grassroots projects connecting people to place while raising two wonderful daughters. She has ‘hands on’ experience through designing and building these community engaged projects implementing food security, renewable energy, ecological restoration and place-based K-12 curriculum and tourism. Equally comfortable with a shovel and spreadsheet, Ally brings a creative pragmatism to her role of Operations Manager of HEC Lab. As an avid naturalist and adventurer, she is in love with and a lifelong student of the natural and cultural diversity of this beautiful province.
